Retract and apologize to Aflao chief – Ablakwa to Akufo-Addo
Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has waded into the conversation regarding the President’s response to the Paramount Chief of Aflao call for completion of the Mahama E-block. President Akufo-Addo responded by saying “If he feels frustrated he should go ahead to complete the project.’’
This statement has generated a lot of conversation across the country and for the North Tongu legislator, President Akufo-Addo’s statement will go down in history as the most condescending, distasteful and disrespectful to come from a president.
He said, “Togbe Fiti is a revered Chief what he said is no different from what chiefs in other regions have said as most of them complain some even go to the extent of demonstrating.’’
“So as president you do not go round using such intemperate language the taxes Ghanaians pay does not go into Togbe Fiti’s coffers but rather government coffers,” he added.
The legislator then called on the president to retract and apologise for his comments
Hon Ablakwa then revealed that in his tenure as Deputy Education Minister he remembers that for one E-block it takes about 18 months to be completed and for up to five years without any action on the said E-blocks it is clearly a lack of political will since it is not one of the government’s priority projects we see them commissioning around.
