Provide evidence to back your claims – WAEC to Africa Education Watch
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) in response to the claims by education think tank Africa Education Watch on question leakages in the 2021 West Africa Senior School Examination (WASSCE) has asked them provide further details of its said findings.
Madam Agnes Teye Cudjoe Public Relations Officer of WAEC pointed out that the said schools being cited by Africa Education Watch for such malpractice were not examination centres during the 2021 WASSCE .
According to WAEC schools like Insaniyaa,Beposoman and Kikam Senior High School in this regard.
“We wish to ask EduWatch to give us further clarifications because we have taken note of some of the issues he raised in the report.”
WAEC as a body also assured that it is still committed to investigating the claims made by EduWatch.
“We wish to further state that the council has taken note of the serious allegations made in the report of malpractices in certain schools, and we will probe the issue further to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the claims made.”
Education think in coming up with a report to track the 2021 WASSCE unravelled some examination leakage syndicates made up of teachers, students and security personnel.
The findings in Africa Education Watch Report on the examination revealed that Out of the 20 WASSCE papers sampled, 55 percent leaked within 10 hours of the start of the exam, with one practical paper leaking five days earlier.
