Monitoring of the recent West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination(WASSCE) by Africa Education Watch has unravelled the fact that 55% of the papers leaked within 10 hours before commencement, with a practical paper leaking 5 days earlier.

This was according to the Education Think Tanks  2021 WASSCE monitoring report

As bait, the think tank allegedly bought questions and answers from open telegram platforms with over 200,000 subscribers for prices ranging from  Ghc 30 to Ghc 150

This was revealed by the Executive director of Kofi Asare during a launch of the report in Accra where he presented the report’s findings.

“Out of the 20 papers, we monitored, 55% of them leaked, 45% of them did not leak. All the 20 papers were circulated. Out of those circulated, 55% of them had the questions appearing in full or parts in the examination.”

“Food and Nutrition for example leaked. We blew the whistle and WAEC held a press conference on the 15th of September, threatening to sue us.”

The education think tank in its bid to curb the practice petitioned the Criminal Investigation Department (CID ) over the matter.

An alert from the West Africa Examinations Council came revealing that extracts of the questions for the Elective Mathematics two paper and section A of English Language 2 had circulated on some platform before the examination.

They indicated that the circulation was not extensive and also rescheduled the physics and business management papers.
