President Akufo-Addo mourns Ama Benyiwaa Doe
Tributes have been pouring in for the late National Democratic Congress stalwart Ama Benyiwaa Doe who unfortunately passed on on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Tema.
President Akufo- Addo has also eulogized the late Ama Benyiwaa Doe, remembering how she was his colleague and good friend in parliament.
Expressing how sad he is about the passing of the elite female politician, he also added “May her soul rest in perfect peace”.
The late Ama Benyiwaa Doe was a member of the third parliament in the fourth republic on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress where she first entered parliament in 1992.
She won in 2000 with 12,995 votes out of the 28,089 valid votes cast representing 46.30% against Benjamin Kojo Acquah, an NPP member who polled 11,248 votes, Kofi Amissah Essandoh, a CPP member who polled 2,468 votes and Muhammed M. Kassim, an NRP member who also polled 1,378 votes.
She served as the Central Regional Minister under late President Mills in 2009 and also served as a member of the council of state.
She then continued to work for the National Democratic Congress as the National Women Organiser. Ama Benyiwaa Doe’s Curriculum Vitae was rich in terms of serving the people of Ghana until her demise. The former Gomoa West MP died aged 73.
