Police begin reviewing prophecy videos for possible breach of law

The Ghana Police Service has expressed its gratitude to the general public for the cooperation shown so far towards the directive against the publication of death prophecies.

The Police however revealed in a statement that it has in its possession some videos capturing some prophecies deemed to have flouted the directive regarding 31st December night.

“Police have begun analyzing these videos to ascertain whether any of them is in breach of the laws of the country,” portions of the statement issued on Thursday, January 6 said.

Prior to the 31st night service to usher in the new year 2022, the Police warned Religious leaders in Ghana to be measured in their utterances, particularly the way they communicated the prophecies.

They further reiterated that laws on the publication of information including prophesies that have the tendency to cause fear and panic are not limited to 31st watch-night services but all other days.
