NDC MPs call out Education Ministry for a poorly organized National Standardized Test
The Minority Members of Parliament on the Education Committee have said they feel vindicated by the poor manner in which the much-publicized maiden edition of the National Standardization test was conducted.
This test is aimed at identifying loopholes especially in the basic education sector and to serve as a guide to the Ghana Education Service through the reports generated to tackle the issues facing the sector across the country head-on.
The maiden edition of the test which was supposed to commence by 9:00 am on Friday delayed and the situation got some heads of schools worried and they urged the authorities to make it a point to address such challenges in the next test which comes up next year.
Ranking Member for the Committee on Education called out the sector ministry for not heeding their advice to organize the test next year.
He believes that relevant stakeholders would have been better placed to organize the test next year.
Despite the complaints, the Public Relations Officer of the Education Ministry Kwasi Kwarteng has described the overall process as a smooth one.
“We may not have had a very perfect organization but it was a smooth exercise and students were happy.”
He assured that all challenges faced during this maiden edition will be resolved in subsequent tests.
These assurances came due to the fact that the National Standardised Test for all basic four pupils was hit by delays at a number of centres nationwide.
The advertised time for the test was on Friday at 9:00 am for the first paper, but that was rescheduled to 11:00 am.
