President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo at the commencement of his tour of the Greater Accra Region has already thrown shots at persons who accused him of abandoning projects initiated by the previous government.

During an interview on Accra based Peace FM monitored by myactiveonline.com he debunked the assertion of the Minority Caucus that he had abandoned projects started by the erstwhile Mahama administration.

According to the President, the projects have not been abandoned as being claimed by the Minority but rather most of the projects are being worked on.

With regards to the issue of the Komenda Sugar factory, the president indicated that he still stands by the fact that due diligence for raw materials was not taken into consideration before building the said factory

According to President Akufo-Addo, immediately after the commissioning of the Komenda Sugar Factory on May 30, 2016, it had to be shut down. He revealed that this was due to one factor, the absence of raw materials.

There were also plans to sell 70% of the factory but it also did not work due to the same issue of raw materials.

He indicated that his government was not able to secure the $24 million dollars from the Indian government because the factory had collapsed. “The whole planning of the factory was wrong from the word go,” he added.

His plans to get the factory working was by getting raw materials to feed the factory and according to him Trades and Industry Minister Allan Kyeremanteng is seriously working on that.

On his assessment of the work he has done so far he said, “you can never be satisfied but can be encouraged about the work done so far.’’

He then emphasized the fact that at age 77 the interest and development of Ghana is what keeps him going as President.
