Minority MPs slammed for their stand on Teacher Licensure exams
You should better make recommendations on how the exams should be conducted and forget about these numerous complaints
Executive Director for the Institute for Education Studies (IFEST), Mr Peter Anti has slammed the minority caucus for its recent comments on the teacher licensure examination.
Mr Anti’ argument is based on the fact the law backing the National Teaching Council to conduct the examination is stipulated in the education Act 2008(Act 778) section 9. The Act empowers the council to recommend to the Minister responsible for Education professional standards required for the registration of teachers among other functions of the National Teaching Council.
The purpose of the licensing examination is to enable qualified teachers to acquire a professional license and also attract excellent young graduates from the universities and colleges of education who have the required professional knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to deliver in schools.

He further said even the professional teacher trainees have come to accept the need for such examination and even if the Minority representation on the Education Committee of Parliament were having issues with the act, they should have said it in Parliament rather than wait for the bill and examination to come into full force before having issues with it.
The only solution for the Minority Caucus according to Mr Anti if they want their voice to be heard is to think about ways to amend the bill to improve the mode of examination for the professional teachers.
