Col Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd) Commissioner of Customs Division of GRA

A letter from the National Security dated October 21, 2021, has added a new twist to the case of beleaguered Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Col Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd).

In letter, there are fresh revelations at the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) pointing to some alleged infractions involving the Commissioner of Customs, Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd), and other top officials at the port.

Key persons fingered in the infractions are Kojo Bonsu, a staffer to the Commissioner, and Adu Kyei, a Deputy Commissioner of Operations at the CD-GRA. They played a role in letting trucks that were impounded by a team of the Customs Intelligence led by one John Gbawu go after the team intercepted and arrested two trucks for suspected “under-declaration and misdescription of goods”.

The letter signed by the National Security Minister and copied to the Finance Minister urged the Customs Division to investigate the case and report to the Ministry and as well stop senior staff from interfering in the work of customs officers at the various checkpoints across the country.
