IMF team to begin second round of discussions with government today
As part of the process to continue discussions on how to salvage Ghana’s economy, a team from the International Monetary Fund is expected in Ghana from September 26th to October 7th.
The team which will be led by Stéphane Roudet, the Mission Chief for Ghana is scheduled to engage more stakeholders this time round.
This follow-up visit is on the back of the first visit which happened between July 6th and 13th to know first-hand what the economic situation is and to talk about a government-backed domestic program which will be aided by an IMF loan agreement.
Initially, the IMF team called on the head of the economic management team Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr Ernest Addison.
The Finance Committee of Parliament, civil society organizations, and development partners, including UNICEF and the World Bank were all called upon by the IMF to engage in social spending.
