IFEST calls on GES to implement the new curriculum for schools
The Institute for Education Studies (Ifest ) has raised concerns with the time Ghana Education Service wants to finally implement and introduce the new curriculum.
Executive Director for IFEST Peter Anti’s worry stems from the fact that the new curriculum was supposed to be introduced last year but unfortunately it could not materialize.
Students were supposed to be introduced to the new curriculum when they were promoted to their new classes but still, the Ghana Education Service could not implement that.
Mr Anti however found the reason the Director-General of GES, Professor Adu Amankwaah gave for the delay in its implementation problematic. It would be recalled that during a press briefing by the GES, the Director-General gave a reason for the delay in the implementation of the new curriculum but Mr Anti does not agree with the reason he gave.
He also revealed another issue that could be causing the delay is the fact that they noticed some drastic changes in the curriculum to be introduced hence the delay.
He urged the Ghana Education Service to quicken up the implementation of the new curriculum and also the provision of materials and the required training to be provided for a successful and beneficial new curriculum for students.
Also, he urged the GES to make it known the particular students that will be writing the standard assessment test for schools, teachers and parents to prepare adequately for it.
