Famed Reggae musician and host of Taxi Driver Show on Zylofon FM, Blakk Rasta is of the view that the ancestors of Ghana who the nation celebrate today as it marks founders day would have fully supported the #fixTheCountry protest.

Speaking to Citi News on the sidelines of the march of Ghanaian youth, led by social media group #FixTheCountry, the reggae musician famed for his no-nonsense approach to criticizing the wrongs of the country did not mince words in describing why the youth are marching today.

“We are here to let the whole world know that we have a leadership that is not representing us. AllAll the loans they are getting, all the borrowing, all the flying and bathing in the skies. All those things do not represent us, so we are only here to let the whole world know that these guys in power are not representing us. And we are sending the message clearly to them that is better they start representing us now than later,” he stated.

When asked why the youth rather chose to be out there demonstrating instead of spending the day to commemorate the forefathers of the nation whom we celebrate today as Founders’ Day with a holiday, he was emphatic with the reason.

He said, “…if the ancestors were physically alive today, they would be part of this demonstration. The ancestors’ spirit pushed us into coming out on this day to represent them and to ask the leaders to stop disgracing our ancestors. To let the leadership [sic] get to know that the ancestors who shed their blood for this country are angry and their blood is speaking from the ground.”

Thousands of Ghanaian youth are marching through some principal streets of Accra in a demonstration organized by social media pressure group #FixTheCountry which was a social media trend a couple of months ago that resulted in the birth of the group. The purpose of the group is to push the government to find better solutions to the many issues threatening livelihood in the country such as unemployment, bad health and educational infrastructure, increased insecurity and numerous economic hardships in the country.
