Ghana Medical Association has lost 9 members to Covid-19
Covid-19 has killed 9 doctors including surgeons, consultants and specialists
Ghana through its battle with the covid 19 pandemics has unfortunately lost nine high ranking doctors.
According to figures from the Ghana Medical Association, 544 doctors have also been infected so far making the medical profession a high-risk one since the battle began.
Consultants, Surgeons and specialists are among the high ranking doctors who have unfortunately passed.
Also, 196 health workers in the Oti Region have been infected making 25.6 per cent of all cases in the region.
The Oti Regional Health Director, Dr Osei Kuffour Afreh lamented that it is worrying because service delivery would be compromised in the next two weeks.
He indicated that due to this situation the workers are pushed to work extra hours and into other departments as well as there has been a shortage of staff.
Dr Afreh added that the cause of infection is not the absence of personal protective equipment but a highly transmissible variant and also some communities in the region are not wearing their face mask.
