#FixTheCountry chants welcome President Akufo-Addo to Germany
It appears the #FixTheCountry phenomenon has caught up with some Ghanaians in Germany as seen by events that transpired on the president’s trip to the European country.
President Akufo-Addo was met by some Ghanaians in Germany who were hailing him and chanting #FixTheCountry slogans to the president.
The incident, which was captured in a viral video reportedly happened on Monday, August 23, 2021, when the President delivered a speech in Düsseldorf, in Germany, as part of the 75th-anniversary celebrations of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Upon the arrival of President Akufo-Addo’s convoy at the venue for the ceremony the chants from protestors started. President Akufo-Addo in acknowledgement of them [protesters], stopped before entering the auditorium.
One of the protestors then said “Nana Akufo-Addo fix the country. We love you, but fix the country.”
Another added, “Nana Addo we beg you, fix the country.”
“Nana, fix the country, so we can come back home. We want to come back home. We are not here for life. We want to return home,” another person chipped in.
As if that was not enough messages for the President, another as if to taunt the President with his own words while he was a Flagbearer of the NPP in 2016, he said, “We have oil, we have gold and cocoa, but we are suffering here. Fix the country for us, so we can be better people. We are not a poor country.”
