According to the National Petroleum Authority, preparations are ongoing to have the Cylinder Recirculation Module in place by the second quarter of next year.

Dr. Mustapha Abdul Hamid, the NPA’s Chief Executive, as cited by the Business and Finance Times on Friday, November 12, 2021, during a familiarization trip of the Central Region said numerous causes contributed to the delay of the initiative.

He noted that the Authority initiated a test initiative in six locations at first, but hit some roadblocks due to cylinder turnaround times and a shortage of bottling plants throughout the country.

All implementation issues will be resolved by the second quarter of next year, allowing the module to be fully operationalized.

“The NPA started a pilot project on the recirculation module in six regions, but to confess, the project suffered some setbacks because of the turnaround rate of cylinders. This was because we had very little cylinders in the system to commence the operation, and the NPA is working to ensure that effective next year, the module takes effect. There was also the challenge of the bottling plants. As of now, only one company has been able to establish a bottling plant, but two more have been licensed. We are hoping that by next year, they will all begin full operation and CRM will begin full operation,” Mustapha Abdul Hamid.

He stated that the restriction on the building of petrol service stations across the country is currently before the cabinet, awaiting the implementation of the appropriate road map.

The NPA CEO, accompanied by other Authority’s officials, paid a visit to the construction site for the ultra-modern NPA office in the region.

Also, the team paid a courtesy call on the Oguamanhene, Osaberima Kwesi Attah II, where they discussed how to keep the Authority’s operations in the region running smoothly.

They also met with the Regional Police Command to discuss measures to assist the NPA in its regional operations, such as ensuring that service stations follow the authority’s procedures.

The Police “are our partners in terms of monitoring the downstream petroleum industry in the Central Region. We have had very good interactions with them and going forward we are hoping to work together, “Dr Abdul Hamid noted.
