Crack Whip on TV Stations Hosting Money Doubling Spiritualists – Kofi Akpaloo to Akufo-Addo
Flagbearer for the Liberal Party of Ghana in the 2020 elections, Kofi Akpaloo has appealed to president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to take drastic measures against Television stations that host traditional priests promising people they can help them make money.
He is of the view that we are in an era where most programs on television stations should be beneficial to the youth especially and not one that will lure them into social vices such as getting rich quick at all cost as some traditional priests portray on these said television stations.
Mr Akpaloo’s sentiments are coming on the back of the recent gruesome killing of an 11 year old boy in Kasoa by some teenagers. The said teenagers killed their colleague and were intending to use him for money rituals when luck eluded them and they were apprehended..
The said teenagers are currently in the grips of the police and they have been arraigned before court today. The killing of the boy has brought a strong wave of condemnations for media houses that offer platforms to ritualists to showcase their vile business.
Many TV and Radio stations in the country have shows on their stations that allow these spiritualists to talk and showcase their craft. These shows normally carry the elements of financial enticements with little efforts and some promising as many things that can turn the head of any teenager.
Stakeholders in the industry are also calling on regulatory bodies to stamp their feet on the ground to root out this germinating evil before it sprouts further.
