A Circuit Court in Cape Coast presided over by Mrs Dorinda Smith Arthur, has sentenced a 19-year-old boy to 20 years imprisonment for armed robbery.

In the month of May, the convict Emmanuel Addae, popularly known as ‘Kofi Yesu’, was said to have attacked a woman named Irene Agyapong. The woman was reportedly returning from work at about 7 pm when Emmanuel attacked her.

Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo indicated that Kofi Yesu was armed with a machete demanding that the complainant Irene Agyapong surrenders her belongings which Irene refused.

In order to get things done, Kofi Yesu injured Irene through the thrusting of her nose through to her upper lips. The suspect then made away with her mobile phone and a sum of money.

Kofi Yesu was arrested and brought before court but was subsequently remanded after pleading guilty.

On September 9, 2021, the court which was presided by Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur pronounced judgement which states that Emmanuel Addae has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for robbery. This is to deter others from such acts.
