Akufo-Addo directs SIGA to investigate state agencies caught in AG’s report
The State Interest and Governance Authority has been instructed by President Akufo –Addo to probe state agencies which were caught committing some infractions in the 2021 Auditor General’s reports.
SIGA has been given a four-week ultimatum by President Akufo-Addo to hand over their findings to the Chief of Staff for the necessary action to be taken.
President Akufo-Addo announced the decision during an interaction with board chairs of state-owned enterprises.
SIGA, according to the president, is to liaise with the Auditor General, probe what caused the infraction fish out those who caused it and suggest what is supposed to be done to them according to the law.
President Akufo-Addo expressed worry that this situation does not put the agencies in a good light.
“It is a clear indication of poor supervision and management, as well as poor enforcement of implementation and sanctions of the needed measures.”
President Akufo-Addo, therefore, called on the stakeholders involved to ponder over why they are not making strides as compared to their counterparts in the private sector who are cashing in.
