Ajumako Enyan Essiam records 25 pregnant candidates in ongoing BECE exams

The Ajumako Enyan Essiam District in the Central Region has recorded 25 pregnant teenagers among the female candidates sitting the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In the District, a total of 2782 candidates are sitting for the examinations, 1451 of whom are female and 1331 being male sitting for the exams that started on Monday, November 15, 2021.

Out of the total number of candidates, 17 were absent from all six centres: Ajumako, Ochiso, Mando, Sonkwa, Denkyira, and Bisease.

Among the centres visited, Ajumako had seven teenage pregnant candidates among the candidates sitting for the exams whereas Mando had four, Bisease had eight, Ochiso and Sonkwa each had three.

According to a Starrfmonline report on Monday, November 15, some candidates brought their breastfeeding children to the examination centres and the babies were looked after by relatives while the mothers took the exams.
