The wheel of justice has finally caught up with Nantomah Otabel, a Social Studies teacher of Kulpi Primary School in the Savanah Region as he is to serve a seven-year sentence with hard labour after he was found guilty by the Tamale Circuit Court of sodomising 18 pupils in the school.

Mr Nantomah was arrested on September 27, 2021 following complaints logged with the Salaga police by relatives of some of the victims.

The accused pleaded guilty as the case was being heard at the Tamale Circuit Court.

A psychiatric assessment of the convict was also granted by the court following a plea from the defence lawyer to the court.

The first report of the medical assessment conducted on the convict at the Pantang Hospital given to the court for its perusal was rejected by the judge.

Another test was then scheduled with the Tamale Teaching Hospital and the report was given to the court again for its perusal.

As the case journeyed with today’s sitting being heard in camera, the court which was presided by His Lordship Alexander Oware delivered its final verdict by sentencing the accused to a seven-year jail term with hard labour.
