Madam Joyce Aryee a member of the Board of trustees of the National Cathedral Project has assured that the taxpayer’s money will not be used in building the National Cathedral.

She said the board has considered the complaints of Ghanaians over the use of state funds in the construction of the cathedral.

There have recently been some controversies surrounding the project but Madam Joyce Aryee cleared the air stating that apart from the president’s seed money no taxpayer’s money will be used in the construction of the cathedral.

“Apart from the seed money the president promised, we don’t want money to come from the taxpayer. That is why we are saying let’s all give,” she said.

Meanwhile, the project has been halted due to lack of funds.

The project estimated to cost $450 million was visualized by the government in 2017  to embody national unity, harmony and spirituality. When completed, it will accommodate a sitting capacity of 5000 people, expandable to 15,000 with chapels and a baptistery as well.
