The death of two farmhands purportedly struck by lightning at Manoaha, a village near Agortime Kpetoe, has prompted Police to launch an investigation.

According to reports, the two were among a group of seven farmworkers who had gone to work on an okra farm in Manoaha at about 1530 hours on Monday when the thunderstorm struck.

All seven sought cover from the rainstorm, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mrs Effia Tengey, Volta Regional Police Public Relations officer, but the duo was allegedly struck by lightning and perished instantaneously.

As the inquiry continues, the bodies of the two, a male and a female, will be processed for autopsy.
