Celebrating Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah is when Ghana as a country is supposed to reflect on his ideas and what he stood for but interestingly the day has been characterized with some public sector workers agitation in the Northern Region over poor working conditions in the country.

The disgruntled public sector workers who hit the streets did not mince words  in expressing their disappointment at the leaders of the Trades Union Congress and other unions as well for accepting the 4% and7% increment in salaries.

Convener for the disgruntled workers Mr Azubiga Emmanuel further expressed their anger saying “our leaders have negotiated into their pockets and if they do not go back within 14 days to renegotiate for better conditions that will be the end of the unions’’

He then revealed that they chose to protest on Kwame Nkrumah Memorial day because the freedom Dr Kwame Nkrumah fought for has been taken away from the people.

They said they want 25% increment instead of the percentage their leaders accepted but their leaders have not given them a listening ear hence the protest.
