Francis-Xavier Sosu’s tussle with the Police has gotten to another level as the Police have now officially charged him with causing damage to public property.

According to the Director-General of  External Affairs of the Police Service ACP Kwasi Ofori, Mr Sosu is expected in court on November 8.

“The Police has obtained a criminal summons and has been duly served for him to appear in court on November 8…as we enumerated the charges includes obstructing the highway, causing damage to public property,” he said.

Mr Sosu and the Police have been involved in an arrest tussle for some time now over his alleged involvement in violent protests in his constituency.

The legislator led his constituents in a demonstration to express their displeasure of the deplorable roads in their constituency.

Protestors started the demonstration peacefully at Danfa early in the morning but later the demonstrators were seen burning tyres and blocking the roads on the Ay Mensah – Danfa road.

Two attempts to arrest him[Francis-Xavier Sosu] on two occasions but were unsuccessful.

The Madina lawmaker responded to the Police allegation saying “That any allegation of the Police about my involvement in unlawful blockade of road and destruction of public property is false and an afterthought carefully manufactured by the police to shift attention of the people of Ghana from the key issues of bad roads raised by our protest and demonstration.”
