Owusu Bempah in Police cells after receiving treatment at the hospital

Founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, has been returned to Police cells after he was admitted and treated at the Police Hospital yesterday.

The controversial prophet who was reported to have been rushed to the Police hospital barely 5 hours after an Accra Circuit court denied him and 3 others bail was discharged and sent back to his cells.

Rev Owusu Bempah who was arrested on Sunday, September 12, was in handcuffs and under the strict surveillance of the Ghana Police at the hospital as required by law.

On Monday, September 13, 2021, the man of God and the three others before were arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court 5 on four counts of offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace, the threat of death, and assault of office of public officers.

Gary Nimako Marfo Esq. who is the lawyer for the accused prayed the court to grant his clients bail but was met with opposition from the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey arguing that the defendants needed to be remanded to facilitate ongoing investigations. 

The court presided over by Afia Owusuaa Appiah (Js) after hearing both sides denied Reverend Owusu Bempah and the three other accused bail and noting that they needed to be remanded to aid the Police investigations.

She, therefore, ruled that they be remanded in Police custody for one week. The case has been adjourned to Monday, September 20, 2021.
