Rescuing victims of the Weija Dam spillage floods is currently the focus of the National Disaster Management Organization(NADMO), the organization has revealed.

Mr Abu Ramadan, Deputy Director of NADMO, emphasized on this saying “currently my outfit is working to expand and open estuaries so that the water can run into the sea so that we can see the levels drop. That is the main focus for now”.

The unfortunate rise of the spiled waters has left many residents displaced as it made its way into the community.

To aid the process of the water entering the sea faster, three estuaries have been created at Bojo Beach by the assembly.

But residents have been cautioned to brace themselves up as the worst of the spillage is yet to come.

More than 300 stranded residents have been brought to safety according to NADMO’s report even s the team is trying to expand the estuaries so the water could flow into the sea.

The Marine Police and the 48 Engineer’s Regiment have also contributed to the rescue efforts of NADMO.

Stranded victims of the spillage have also been advised to call the emergency line 122 for a swift response.

Mr Ramadan assured of the platform’s reliability and said the team will not hesitate in offering assistance should anyone call for their services.
