Absence of the legislator for Madina  Francis –Xavier Kojo Sosu in court today has led to the adjournment of the case filed against him by the Ghana Police to November 16th 2021.

The court proceedings which was held at the Kaneshie District Court today November 8, 2021, had to be held in the chambers and was presided over by Magistrate Oheneba Kufuor.

Leading the charge of the state was prosecutor ASP Sylvester Asare.

It also came to light during the court proceedings that Ghana Police Service had received a letter from the Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin on the issue at hand.

However, the Madina Constituency Secretary for the National Democratic Congress Abdul –Razak Hussein was optimistic that the issue will soon be resolved and also revealed that the Madina Constituency is solidly behind their lawmaker.

“We are all here in solidarity and support to the MP. We stand with him and rightly, as the lawyer said, the matter was called and when they went into chambers, the lawyers made it clear that they received a letter from Parliament that Sosu is on Parliamentary duties outside the country. The court has also agreed in principle. So by 16th November, he will be touching down, so they are hoping that by that time, he will be in, then the case can go on,” he said.

The NDC constituency executive is also glad about the fact that they’ve started seeing some positive results from the demonstration, for which reason Francis-Xavier Sosu is being dragged to court.

He indicated that the contractor of some portions of the road they demonstrated over, has reported to the site and has commenced work.
