Accra Hearts of Oak players celebrate their goal against Bechem United at the Nana Gyeabour Park at Bechem

Hello and welcome to the round-up of the midweek actions in the Ghana Premier League. A total of seven matches were played with the remaining two set for Thursday. And myactiveonline.com Clifford Adumbire comes your way with all the details you need to know of the week 24 matches that took place today, Wednesday.

Accra Hearts of Oak continue their resurgence, and playing away to Bechem United at the Nana Gyeabour Park, Bechem was no worry for them as they pipped United at their own backyard to claim maximum points. A goalless first half followed with another barren run beyond the hour mark until the 75th minute when Ibrahim Salifu got the opener and eventual winner for the Phobians. That was their second win in a row following a shock defeat to Dreams two weeks ago.

Berekum Chelsea having suffered back to back defeats to WAFA and Aduana Stars finally found their rhythm and Ashanti Gold were the unfortunate victims of their wrath. The Miners who themselves came into the match with a shaky performance in their last two matches were helpless as they conceded three goals and only managed to score one. Mohammed Abdul Basit opened the scoring for the home side in the 36th minute before Paul Atta Agyei added one 12 minutes after recess. The Miners pulled one back through Yaw Annor in the 64th minute before Stephen Amankonah secured the game for the Blues from the penalty spot with 13 minutes of regulation time left to play.

Dreams FC terrorized King Faisal at the Theatre of Dreams at Dawu by scoring three unanswered goals. After a barren 45 minutes, both sides came back from the break hoping to make the difference to win and it was the Still Believe who got the difference. Abednego Asafo broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute to give Dreams their dream lead. with six minutes of normal time to play, Sadat Mohammed increased the tally for the home side before Emmanuel Ocran added the toppings two minutes from the end of regulation time.

Eleven Wonders were held at home by Inter Allies to a 1-1 draw. The Tema-based side shot to the lead after just a quarter of an hour of play through Mohammed Zakari. The Sure Wonders responded soon after the break with a goal of their own in the 46th minute through Clement Boahen.

Karela United travelled to Elmina to pick a point from Sharks at the Ndoum Sports Stadium. Ofori Antwi Reindolf scored the opener for Karela in the 28th minute. Sharks trailed in the game until in the 67th minute when Benjamin Boateng pulled parity for the Elmina-based side and forced a share of the points.

Prince Agyemang’s second-minute goal for the Medeama was not enough to earn them a point as WAFA came from behind to snatch all points with a winner deep into injury time. Prince Agyemang shot the Yellow and Mauves into the lead two minutes into the game. WAFA equalized through Enock Asubonteng in the 53rd and the game looked destined for a draw until a dramatic late goal from Godwin Agbevor handed all the points to the Academy boys against Medeama who were at the summit of the table just two weeks ago.

Legon Cities recorded a 2-1 victory over city rivals Liberty Professionals. The Royals who had their last match against Ebusua Dwarfs called off following threats to the referee by fans of the home side put that shock behind them and produced a winning performance to edge out the Scientific Soccer Lads at the Accra Sports Stadium. A goal from  Kwaku Karikari in the 80th minute gave Liberty the hope of securing all three points. However, a goal from Evans Owusu six minutes later switched the game open for a frantic end. And the Royals got the last laugh when Jonah Attuquaye scored the winner two minutes into added time to claim all three points for the Legon-based side.

Thursday Action

Asante Kotoko will host Ebusua Dwarfs on Thursday at 3 pm at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi. The last match for the week 24 fixtures involves Accra Great Olympics and Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium at 6 pm.
