Forgive her, she’s contributing to the economy – Importers and Exporters seek pardon for powerful woman

After the exposé by the Office of the Special Prosecutor on alleged tax evasion by Labianca Company Limited, the Importers and Exporters have come out to defend its member.

The association advised all and sundry to limit how they criticise the Council of State member, Madam Eunice Buah Asomah-Hinneh because despite all the allegations, her contribution to the economy cannot be overlooked.

Also, the association explained that though it does not condone the act of illegal business transactions by its members, it is worried the continued vilification of Labianca will hurt the company that is also contributing its quota to the country’s revenue.

 “Labianca Company Limited has for the past years been one of the major importers of frozen products and its direct and indirect contribution to that job creation and revenue generation can not be overlooked in our quest as a country to criticize them over the OSP findings.”

The association advised its me Madam Asomah-Hinneh to take a learning cue out of this situation to avoid any future occurrence.

Ghanaians have also urged to pardon the company since the company is determined to re-write the wrongs from this situation to safeguard its international reputation which has been battered due to allegations.

Madam Eunice Asomah-Hinneh, owner of the said company and also a Council of State member was alleged to have evaded some taxes by using her position for favours from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority which reduced her tax liabilities. 

The Office of the Special Prosecutor through its investigation of the matter has been able to recover GHS1 million from Labianca Company Limited.
