Contrary to reports making rounds that the Police have officially charged Francis-Xavier Sosu, the MP for Madina with causing damage to public property, spokesperson for the MP, Bansi Abubakar Abdul Hamid has indicated that he[Sosu] has not been served with any criminal summons.

Also, he indicated that Mr Sosu is still at post and also his security guard has been replaced following the interdiction of the first one.

Bansi was responding to a piece of initial information the Police provided saying they have secured a judicial order for lawmaker Francis-Xavier Sosu to appear in court on November 8.

It was revealed by the Police during a meeting with the media and some selected Civil Society Organizations. Acting Director-General of the Public Affairs Department of the Ghana Police Service ACP Kwesi Ofori said during the meeting that the lawmaker will answer some questions in court on November 8.

“The police have obtained a criminal summons and it has been served for him to appear in court on November 8. As we enumerated, the charges levelled against him are obstructing a highway and destruction of public property among other things.”

Francis-Xavier Sosu and the Ghana Police have been on each others neck for well over a week now following a demonstration at the Madina Constituency led by the MP to demand that their roads be fixed.
