The prosecution in the case against dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, better known as Shatta Wale, is on the lookout for the artiste’s sister.

She is said to be the person who reported the incident of the alleged fake gunshot to the East Legon Police.

Shatta Wale is accused of spreading fake information in public and causing fear and panic.

Three people who appeared with him, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Shatta’s personal assistant, Eric Vanetor, a graphic designer, and Iddrisu Yussif, a beautician, were charged with aiding and abetting the illegal act of fake news dissemination.

They have all pleaded not guilty and have each been granted GHc100,000 bail with public servant sureties.

Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey, the prosecutor, told the court on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, that one more suspect is being pursued. He asked the court to order the accused persons’ attorneys to present the named suspects in order to assist the Police.

At this point, Jerry Avenorgbo, counsel for the accused, requested an in-camera hearing, which was granted.

When the case was recalled, the accused persons’ attorneys asked the court to reschedule the hearing to the last weekend of January 2021, saying Shatta will be leading a lot of engagements during the holiday season.

The case has subsequently been adjourned to January 25, 2022, by the court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Marvin Essandoh.

Shatta Wale, who the court earlier granted a GHC100,000 self-recognizance bail, was also present.

While speaking to the media, Shatta Wale’s lawyer stated that his client will be busy during the holiday season and requested that the court grant them a lengthier adjournment.
