AMA announcement of Chale Wote going virtual spoilt our businesses – Organizer
The Chale Wote art festival organizers have blamed the Accra Metropolitan Assembly for saying the annual event would be held virtually this year whiles discussions were still ongoing.
They said due to that announcement, most of their investors refused to inject capital into this year’s event. They faulted the AMA for making such an announcement without further consultations between the parties involved.
The brain behind the annual art event, Mantse Ayikwei revealed that the impression was like there was a consensus meanwhile they were still consulting their global investors.
This announcement by the AMA made them look unprofessional in the eyes of their investors because they should have been the ones discussing such modalities with their organizers.
He indicated that their plan was to have a hybrid event with some outdoor activity but keep the exhibition indoors according to the discussion we had with the Tourism Ministry.
Further, he stressed that they had not consented to any virtual event which has now caused most of their business partners and investors to pull out.
Mantse Ayikwei then described their arrest by the Police as strange as they were charged for breaching the Public Order Act during the event but were later released.
