Akuampem Poloo was selfish – Arnold Baidoo
While serving a 90-day prison sentence for her iconic naked photo with her son, entertainment journalist Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has blamed Akuapem Poloo for her current plight. That stunt, according to Arnold, was incredibly selfish and self-centred.
Arnold clarified his view on Saturday, December 4, 2021, on United Showbiz by stating that Akuapem Poloo had previously shared indecent photographs on social media, which helped her gain popularity.
“Before that episode, Akuapim Poloo had broken the internet. Like Whitney said, on Valentine’s day, she posted some obscene photograph that everybody was virtually talking about. So she kind of broke the internet, and I believe this got into her head. So after that photograph, she kept posting.”
The entertainment pundit argued that Poloo’s son’s birthday should have been centred on the little boy. Not the mother, posting scandalous nude photos Arnold believed was “selfish”.
“On her son’s birthday, for me, I think she was selfish because she wanted to use that occasion to break the internet again. The reason I say she was selfish at that particular moment is that it is the child’s birthday. Not your birthday. Under normal circumstances, that episode is not about you. It is about the child.
“So what she was supposed to do is to post the boy’s picture and still use that caption on the controversial photo on a pic where the child is fully clothed. I feel at that particular moment, she wanted it to be about her and not the child. And that brought the whole brouhaha,” Arnold concluded.
It will be recalled that in June 2020, an Accra Circuit Court sentenced Rosemond Brown popularly known as Akuapem Poloo to 90 days in prison for disseminating obscene material and breaching the dignity and integrity of her seven-year-old son in a nude photo she shared on social media.
Her lawyers contested the decision, claiming it was overly punitive, despite the fact that she had completed a portion of her sentence.
She was subsequently given GHS80,000 bail awaiting the outcome of the appeal. On Wednesday, December 1, the High Court’s Criminal Court 1 Division dismissed the appeal brought by the lawyers of the actress Rosemond Brown.
The Court dismissed her appeal and ordered her to serve the remainder of her 90-day sentence.
