There are moments in the lifetime of every individual that most would wish to skip if they had the power. Divorce is one of such and the pain that accompanies it is far reaching than meets the eye. Billionaire couple Bill and Melinda Gates broke the news of their divorce early this week and it has remained a key talking point for many. Theirs is a union that has survived 27 good years and now at the cusps of breakdown following their decision to call it quits.
The billionaire parents who announced their divorce on May 4, Monday didn’t give any explanations as to why they have chosen to go their separate paths. The announcement made by the couple on Twitter generated loads of attention and people wondered what could be the reasons.
Bill Gates statement read, “Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives”.
“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives.”
“We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life,” it added.
However, in a Twitter post, the two revealed that they have been struggling to keep their relationship working for some time now and for that reason, they would choose to leave their separate lives.
Jennifer, their first daughter reacted to the message, expressing how challenging it has been for her and the entire family. She wrote, “Hi friends by now many of you have heard the news that my parents are separating”

“I’m still learning how to best support my own process and emotions as well as my family members at this time, and am grateful for the space to do so. “I won’t personally comment further on anything around the separation, but please know that you kind words and support mean the world to me,” she added.
Jennifer, 25, is the oldest of the estranged couple’s three children, who include her brother Rory, 21, and sister Phoebe, 18.
