Video: Leon Balogun went to Black Stars’ dressing room to congratulate them
Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun showed sportsmanship by going to the Black Stars dressing room to congratulate them after the two sides drew 1-1 in Abuja which saw Ghana qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
Soon after the final whistle, Nigerian fans invaded the pitch forcing the Black Stars players and technical team members who were still enjoying the moment on the pitch to run into the dressing room for cover.
While in the dressing room, Balogun who plays club football for Scottish Premiership side Rangers walked into Ghana’s dressing room and shook the hands of the Ghanaian players and the technical team members.
As he went around greeting each player and Ghanaian official he found, most of the Ghanaian players could be seen looking stunned at his honourable act. His action despite the Super Eagles exit which prompted the invasion of the refurbished stadium leading to the destruction of several properties has won the hearts of many.
