Ghana U20 coach, Abdul Karim Zito, says winning their first game against Tanzania in the ongoing 2021 U20 AFCON in Mauritania will give his players confidence going forward.
The Black Satellites won 4-0 over the Taifa Stars, courtesy of a brace from Percious Boah and goals from Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Joselpho Barnes.
Zito stated it elates him to have won his opening match of the competition emphatically because Ghana is noted to be a slow starter at tournaments.
“Ghana are known to be slow starters in competitions, so, it’s good that this time around we’ve changed that story,” he said at the post-match press conference.
“I’m happy we won against Tanzania, though we scored 4 goals, it was not an easy match. They have some really good players but in football you are always punished with your mistakes”.
“It’s a good start for us, and it will propel the way players for the matches against Morocco and Gambia. It’s also good for their confidence.
Ghana tops Group C with three points after the win over Tanzania, while Morocco is second after a 1-0 win against The Gambia last night.
