Salah fumbled before Onana to confirm Aboubakar’s Mbappe comparison
Egypt and Liverpool star Mohammed Salah fumbled a big chance to win the sem-final tie for Egypt in regulation time when he came face to face with Andre Onana.
The big miss set Twitter on fire as fans trolled the Liverpool hitman using his opposite number Vincent Aboubakar’s criticism of the player ahead of their semi-final clash on Thursday evening.
Ahead of the match, the Cameroon captain stated in what is seen as a direct slap at the Egypt star’s pride that he does not see Salah on the same level as Mbappe.
Aboubakar said,”I see him as before. He is having a great season in the Premier League, helping his country to advance in this competition [AFCON]. I wish him a lot of luck. May the best man win!
The Cameroon captain added, “I’m not very impressed with him. I say it clearly because I am an honest person and I have my own way of seeing things. If he impressed me, I would say so. But he doesn’t impress me much.
“He’s a good player, he scores a lot but he doesn’t produce a lot of stuff in the game. Of course, he does good things in the Premier League because he’s been in a team for years.
“He is a good player but not at the level of someone like Mbappe.”
The Egyptian, however, had the final laugh after marshalling his side to beat the Indomitable Lions to their first defeat in the tournament which will see them watch on as the Pharaohs lock horns with Senegal in the final on Sunday night.
