Sadio Mane ruled ‘OUT’ of World Cup after limping off against Werder Bremen
Senegal’s Sadio Mane has been ruled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after limping off against Werder Bremen, according to L’Equipe.
The Senegalese forward was hit in the knee while playing for Bayern Munich on Tuesday night. He lay on the ground for treatment in the 15th minute but could not continue and was replaced by Leroy Sane in the 20th minute as he headed down the tunnel.
Bayern Munich’s manager Julian Nagelsmann said “I can’t say exactly what he has. He took a hit on the right kneecap, but for now, I can’t say more. I didn’t see him after the match, I hope it won’t be too serious”.
Mane is part of the 26-man squad named by Aliou Cisse for the tournament which kicks off in less than two weeks’ time.
The player will undergo an x-ray scan to determine the extent of damage before a final word is made on his World Cup future.
