Qatar see Ghana as an opportunity to test their readiness for the World Cup – Tony Aubynn
The Blck Galaxies arrived in Austria last weekend to compete in the 4-nation tournament and Dr Tony Aubynn has pointed out that Ghana’s genealogy factored in the country’s inclusion in the tournament.
Chairman of the Black Galaxies Management Committee, Dr Tony Aubynn revealed that the country’s reputation in sports particularly football earned the Galaxies a spot and the 2022 World Cup host nation Qatar saw the talents Ghana houses and plans to use this as an opportunity to prepare for the big event.
‘‘Qatar is in the World Cup and they don’t want to just be a passenger host…and that’s why they saw Ghana football as a very major opportunity for them to test their skills,” Dr Aubynn said.
The Black Galaxies, which is made up of home-based players will be facing Qatar on Tuesday, August 23. The two other nations participating in the tournament are Jamaica and Morocco.
Ghana is set to face Nigeria in a thrilling encounter for a spot in the 2023 CHAN tournament which will be held in Algeria. The Black Galaxies will arrive back in Ghana on Thursday ahead of the showdown with Nigeria over the weekend.
