Otto Addo names 33-man squad for Afcon qualifier
Otto Addo has named a 33-man squad for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and the Central African Republic.
In the squad are some known faces who make a return after missing out in the last outing against Nigeria in the World Cup playoffs while there are also new faces and a small representation from the Ghana Premier League.
Captain of the side, Andre Ayew who missed the last match due to suspension has been included in the squad, the same as China-based midfield dynamo Mubarak Wakaso and Turkey-based Benjamin Tetteh who missed out also as a result of a suspension.
Ghana Premier League duo of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh of Hearts of Oak and Augustine Okrah of Bechem United have also made the list of 33 players called up for the matches. Aside from them, there are also places for the returning Kamaldeen Sulemana and Braydon Manu of SV Darmstadt.
Ghana will place host to the Bareas of Madagascar at the Cape Coast stadium on June 1, 2022, before travelling to face the Central African Republic four days later as the race for 2023 begins.
