Monaco closing in on Malang Sarr after Chelsea halted Fulham deal
France and Chelsea centre-back, Malang Sarr, who joined Chelsea in August 2020 from Ligue 1 club, Nice, is set to move to Monaco with the club already in direct talks with his current employer, Chelsea.
Ligue1 has become the favourite destination for the defender after he turned down a proposal from Fulham.
The 23-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge following a loan stint with FC Porto. He was, however, a fringe player for Thomas Tuchel’s men with the now departed duo of Antonio Rudiger and Andrea Christensen as well as Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah all ahead of him in the pecking order.
With the Blues looking for reinforcement in key defensive areas, Sarr may struggle for game time, thus the decision to look for it elsewhere.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, “AS Monaco are in negotiations with Chelsea for Malang Sarr. Ligue1, fav destination for the player despite the proposal received from Fulham – as reported in the morning”.
