Kotoko takes on King Faisal in a must-win encounter after defeat to Hearts

King Faisal out to frustrate wounded Porcupine Warriors

Kumasi Asante Kotoko is bracing themselves up for a clash with a resurgent King Faisal side who has claimed 7 points from 9 in their last three matches. With successes against Legon Cities and Great Olympics and a stalemate against Medeama, the Inshallah boys will be no push over for the hungry and angry Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoko on the other hand come with a point less from the same number of matches. Interestingly, Kotoko come into the game with pain from perhaps their most important match of the season and that too against their fiercest rival and now their title hopes hang in the balance.

In the last three matches, King Faisal conceded just a goal and kept two clean sheets whiles scoring four in the process. Their opponents were teams that are placed higher in the table than them with two of such being from the top six. Creditably, they accumulated 4 points from those those matches while conceding just their only goal against Medeama away from home.

Mariano Barreto led side scored 5 goals and conceded 4 in the process and with no clean sheet. This may sound as a a source of worry to their supporters who were seen in various sad postures following the defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak.

They may have tilted the title tide in favour of their arch-rivals in that defeat but the battle is still far from over and Kotoko would have the chance to close the gap at the top of the table temporarily. A win would put pressure on the Phobians and as it is said, football is a game of shocks and surprises. This would be more than just a surprise if the Porcupines chase Hearts to the last day for the title. But whatever it may be, when Centre referee Clement Kwame Nkuah blows his whistle for the start of the match at Obuasi, Kotoko would know they cannot afford to concede defeat just now.
