King Faisal survive relegation on last day of the season as Liberty join Inter Allies in the lower division

King-Faisal

Kumasi King Faisal have survived relegation from the Ghana Premier League after a 0-0 draw with Liberty Professionals at Sogakope which ultimately relegated the latter.

Playing in their first full league season following their re-admission into the league alongside Accra Great Olympics following protracted legal issues in court, the Inshallah boys looked destined for relegation until a late turnaround in form late into the season.

They played out a sensational goalless draw against the Scientific Soccer lads away at Sogakope to secure their status. They will thus be doing another season in the top flight next season as they emerge from their ashes of the past to re-establish themselves in the top division of Ghana football.

Liberty Professional have played in the league for over two decades. Now they have been relegated to the second tier of men’s league football where they will fight to get back up to the premiership next season. A talent hub for the national team with names such as Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan and John Painstil, the Dansoman-based team will not be shy of inspiration to find their way back into the top division quickly.

Alongside Liberty Professional is Cape Mysterious Coast Ebusua Dwarfs who have also gone down despite a 2-1 success over Bechem United at Cape Coast. The two clubs join Inter Allies FC who were already relegated before the final weeks of the season.
