Hearts of Oak pays for veteran goalkeeper Ben Mensah’s coaching course
Hearts of Oak has decided to reward its long-serving guardsman Benjamin Mensah for his loyalty by paying for his coaching courses. Ben Mensah who has been with the Phobians since moving in from New Edubiase in November 2016 has served the club both as the first choice and backup goalkeeper to both Richmond Ayi and Richard Attah. He managed over 30 appearances for the club in the span of six years he has been with the Rainbow club.
Just like many footballers do, Ben Mensah has opted to follow a career in management after he has hanged his boot and has begun the licensing course with the Ghana Football Association. The License D course in which he is taking part is ongoing at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram.
A club publication said, “Long serving and dedicated goalkeeper, Benjamin Mensah has finally commenced his coaching course as he hopes to earn a new career and continue to impact positively on the younger generation”.
It continued, “The License D course which is organized by the Ghana Football Association is currently taking place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence-Prampram.
“The sessions which will be led by the GFA Director of Coaching education, Professor Kwame Mintah will see the participants go through series of practical works including growth and development of young football talents, methods of coaching and cardiovascular resuscitation and administration of first aid”.
Ben Mensah’s expenses for the course will be paid for by the club as a form of reward for the player’s loyalty and also part of its bid to impact positively on the players.
“As part of Hearts of Oak’s policy to impact positively on its players, the club took the decision to pay for all expenses as a reward for his dedication, loyalty and total service to the club.”
“The gesture demonstrates the club’s commitment to honour it’s players and staff,” the statement concluded.
Ben Mensah has already been given a coaching role at the club after he was elevated to the assistant goalkeepers’ trainer ahead of the start of the 2022/23 league season.
