Harry Maguire starts for England against Iran
Gareth Southgate has named Harry Maguire and John Stones as his preferred centre-back pair for England’s World Cup Group B opener against Iran.
Also included in the starting XI is Maguire’s Manchester United teammate Luke Shaw who is preferred at left-back with Kierran Trippier of Newcastle United taking the right-back position in a four-man defensive setup.
Westham’s Declan Rice and his childhood friend Mason Mount will form a midfield trio with Borussia Dortmund’s teenager Jude Bellingham while Rahim Sterling and Bukayo Saka will support Harry Kane in the attack.
