GPL: Olympics end league strongly with a win over Dreams FC
Great Olympics beat Dreams FC 2-1 in Accra to end season on a high note
Accra Great Olympics season has ended on a good note despite them failing to win the league or even place next to the champions following an impressive season that saw them place second at the end of the first half of the season.
Oly Dade, the club with the most nicknames gave a good account of themselves and would be considered strongly in the mix for the title next season owing to this season’s strong display.
Having lost their last two matches on the bounce, Oly Dade got back on time to finish on a high note with a 2-1 defeat of Dreams FC. A goal in each half of the match ensured Ibrahim Issah’s 59th-minute goal for Dreams stood as a mere consolation.
Abdul Manaf Mudasiru opened the scoring at the Accra Sports Stadium with two minutes left to play in the half. His goal took Great Olympics to the break with a lone goal lead. With 10 minutes of the second half played, Patrick Sackey added to the two times Premier League winners tally. Four minutes later, Ibrahim Issah pulled one back for the Dawu-based side but that was all they could do as the ‘Accra land Lords’ held out to secure the victory.
Both Great Olympics and Dreams FC have been knocked out of the FA Cup meaning their season has officially ended they can begin their holidays as they plan for the 2021/22 season.
