Karela United suffered their first Ghana Premier League defeat of the season at the hands of Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem on Friday afternoon.
A late goal from Listowel Amankona ensured the Hunters ran out 2-1 winners in the Ghana Premier League match week six fixture, the Anyinase-based side’s first defeat of the 2020/21 season.
Forward, Steven Owusu, broke the deadlock a minute into the second half of the game to give the Bono-based side the lead at the expense of the table toppers–it was Owusu’s second goal of the season.
Talismanic attacker of the Pride and Passion club, Diawisie Taylor, fired in the equalizer from close-range in the 56th minute for Karela United.
It took his tally to four goals this season, the best so far in the league.
Goal scorer for Bechem United, Steven Owusu, was withdrawn for Listowel Amankona to come on in the 87th minute.
Three minutes later, Amankona scored the winner from a series of headers resulting from a set-piece at the dying embers of the game.
Bechem United go level on points with Karela United on the league log, 11, with an outstanding game to play against Ashantigold at home.
