Ghana will host the Commonwealth Games soon – Sports minister
In Ghana’s preparation for hosting the 2023 African games, Mustapha Ussif, Minister of Youth and Sports has stated that the country has plans of hosting bigger international sporting competitions.
In an interview, the Minister indicated the comprehensive plans to host the games and bid to host other international competitions in the future
“We (Ghana government) are looking beyond the Games where we have a center where we can host any international Games. The Commonwealth Games have never come to Africa. Is there an opportunity for us once we finish with this infrastructure to put in a bid in the near future for Commonwealth Games? It’s possible.”
The African games, which are to be held in August 2023 will be the 13th edition of the competition which is held every four years.
Athletes from 53 nations are expected to participate in the competition across several sporting disciplines.
