Ghana cannot beat Nigeria except a miracle happens – Mohammed Polo
Former Ghana international Mohammed Polo believes the Black Stars will need a miracle in order to go past the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the World Cup qualifying play-off in March.
The two West African giants had underwhelming performances at the just ended Afcon but the Super Eagles were better with a 100% win rate in the group stage. However, Ghana failed to go beyond the group stage and has sacked its coach as a result. With the search for a new coach unending, Polo thinks Ghana would need more to qualify.
He told Free FM, “What is happening will not help us. Even if we are able to qualify for the World Cup, it will not help us because this is not the quality”.
According to the former Hearts of Oak coach, if Ghana even makes it past Nigeria, the world cup will not be a nice experience for the team judging from its current quality.
“To be frank, football goes beyond logic. But you need a coach who can put certain things together so that if he is able to win then he can take us to the World Cup.
“But to be frank, the quality of our football today, if we are able to go past Nigeria and go to the World Cup, we shall thank God. “But the World Cup is also a different thing,” the Hearts of Oak legend added.
