Former Hasaacas Ladies ace, Evelyn Badu wins big at Caf awards
Former Hasaacas Ladies’ striker Evelyn Badu has raised the flag of Ghana high at the CAF Football Awards 2022 in Rabat, Morocco by scooping the Young Player and Inter-Club Player of the Year prizes.
The Norwegian-based talent went into a tight race with former teammate Doris Boaduwaa and Morocco’s youngster Yasmine Zouhir.
The antenna for her big win was unquestionable as she helped Hasaacas Ladies to an unprecedented trophy haul last season before departing to continue her career with a Norwegian club, Avaldsnes IL.
Evelyn Badu, aged 19 years old played a pivotal role as Hasaacas Ladies won all domestic titles before going on to conquer West Africa at the WAFU tournament. She was the top scorer as Hasaacas Ladies reached the finals of the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt last year.
Both Evelyn Badu and Doris Boaduwaa were named in the final list of nominees for the 2022 CAF Awards but elsewhere in the men’s category, Black Stars forward, Kamaldeen Sulemana, missed out on the final list for the Young Player of the Year award while Yusif Basigi was also left out of the final three for the Coach of the Year.
Earlier on Thursday, the Black Princesses Head Coach, Ben Fokuo announced that Mukarama Abdulai will serve as General Captain of the team whilst Evelyn Badu gets the nod as the team Captain during the FIFA Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022.
Badu is currently with the Black Princesses side as they prepare for next month’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
